Choosing the right fabric

I wanted it to be more of an earthy range of fabrics... I hope I did good... I guess time will only tell... =b And I hope it's not too dark for my partner's taste... reminds me of fall... I'll take a couple more sneak peak pics as I make my way towards progress, but I don't want to give anything away...

in other news, I am almost completed with my friend's baby boy quilt... You know, the one with the blues, yellows and greens? I just need to complete sewing the binding on and then I'm done... I need to try and make a label for my quilt. I've made 4 completed quilts, given two away and have not made a quilt label... Now Is The Time!! as my friend, Carmen, likes to say... (but that's when we are gambling)... lol... =b

doll quilt swap 4

Yes!! I made it into the doll quilt swap 4... =b When I first signed up, I wrote "quilter's choice" as the option. I didn't want to make it harder than it had to be... but just in case someone out there may be looking for ideas to get them going on the right track, here is a little something about me that may help out:

Colors that I really like are browns, burgandys and plums. I usually tend to go with darker colors. I am really into turtles, baby pooh, classic pooh, and now I'm starting to like alligators. I think I like baby pooh because he has a big noggin, like my babies... lol... =b As far as designs go, I'm very open to anything. What may be nice too, is maybe a doll quilt that is aimed towards a boy so that maybe I can let my youngest use it for his stuffed animals (he may borrow it, because it will be mine)... =b It doesn't have to be aimed for a boy though. It can be aimed totally towards me!! But I give you open range... I don't want my likes to limit you. I wouldn't mind even receiving something that makes me think, "hmmm, I wouldn't have thought of that." I know everyone has their own tastes and I wouldn't mind receiving a doll qult that is totally unexpected... Out of the Box (my box, that is)... =b

I hope this post gives a sense of where I am coming from and I didn't lead to more confusion... This is my first swap ever... So I'll be totally happy if everything works out and I get that little surprise in the mail and my partner gets theirs without any bumps... =b

I Saw Shades of Red... =b

I wanted to show a WIP that I have had since last year. It's been ready for quilting for awhile, just waiting for me to get started. This was supposed to be the first quilt that I was going to sew a binding on and I think that is why I have not completed it. But now that I've done it once I think I'm ready to complete it. I hope that it counts as a Shade Of Red... =b I'm drawn to burgandys and browns. I also need to go and look for an outside border for two of the other quilts I'm working on. If I'm lucky I'll be done sooner than I think.
Oh... and I also joined the Doll Quilt Swap 4! My first swap ever!! So I'm excited and a little scared at the same time. wish me luck! =b

Busy Busy Busy

I am gonna be really busy this month! I need to complete 2 baby quilts. One for the end of June and one for mid July. The pic above was going to be for my friend who is having a boy. She wanted some greens. But now I think it looks a little too girly for a baby boy. My mom agrees, so back to the drawing board. I have to be quick though, hers is the first one I need to complete. It just gives me an excuse to go fabric shopping... =b Maybe I'll use the above material for our "2nd" Annual Gift Exchange... Some of my cousins and aunts who are a little craftier than me started a gift exchange of home made gifts. It was lots of fun and I can't wait to see what we all come up with again...

These fabrics are going to be for my cousin Vivian and her baby boy. Her Baby Shower is in July, but I have to try and complete it or get most of it done before the end of June because that's when we'll be going on our family trip to Oklahoma. Now I know I can do it, since I completed the other one. Wish me luck...
