Time Sure Files...

When You're So Busy!! Well it almost seems like a lifetime since my last post. I posted some pics to give you an idea of some of the things that have been happening in my life. We went to California Adventure with our boys and my little cousin. They had a blast, although the Tower of Terror scared the living daylights outta them... lol
We went to the Barnum & Bailey Brothers Circus at the Honda Center for our friend's daughter's 5th birthday... They Loved it!!!

The Birthday Girl is the one with the Bunny Ears.... =b

My Grandma Carrie passed away (my daddy's momma)... Here is my dad with his middle grandson (my boy), Miles... They are watching as she is being lowered. We love her and she will be missed.

My Boys started their first season of Football!! Miles plays Flag and Christopher is in Tackle. They have learned so much and they are making all kinds of good friends... =b

I entered a Blog Give Away and I WON!!! My first win. You can probably guess how excited I was to win this pretty doll quilt from SheltonDHW . Go ahead and peek at her blog!! Oh Yeah, and now I have two doll quilts in my collection! I'll be happy when football season is over cuz then I'll be able to get my hands on more crafting... =b

So I tried to fill you in all at once... I know there's somethings I missed, like so many babies being born around me... and no, I haven't caught that bug... Three may be good enough for me. We just may have to wait around and see! And I'll try to post more frequently. Thanks for reading!

I am almost done with putting together the front of my quilt. Just a little more sewing to go. I'll have some pics up soon too.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I know my boys did. I took that week off and we went to the beach, to our friend's pool, to their grandparents... I went with my mom and a couple of aunt's (and a cousin) to Fresno to pick up our cousin Benny. I would have liked to have gotten my cousin Mont too... but it was a no go. His dad said they had made plans already. It was a good trip though...

Choosing the right fabric

I wanted it to be more of an earthy range of fabrics... I hope I did good... I guess time will only tell... =b And I hope it's not too dark for my partner's taste... reminds me of fall... I'll take a couple more sneak peak pics as I make my way towards progress, but I don't want to give anything away...

in other news, I am almost completed with my friend's baby boy quilt... You know, the one with the blues, yellows and greens? I just need to complete sewing the binding on and then I'm done... I need to try and make a label for my quilt. I've made 4 completed quilts, given two away and have not made a quilt label... Now Is The Time!! as my friend, Carmen, likes to say... (but that's when we are gambling)... lol... =b

man... no more trip to OK... =( We usually drive out there, but the GAS is just too darn high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the last time we went out there it was about $2something... oh well...

I'm also thinking up some ideas for my doll qult swap... it's coming around... the main idea, that is... =b I'll be sure to post up some sneak peaks as they develop...

doll quilt swap 4

Yes!! I made it into the doll quilt swap 4... =b When I first signed up, I wrote "quilter's choice" as the option. I didn't want to make it harder than it had to be... but just in case someone out there may be looking for ideas to get them going on the right track, here is a little something about me that may help out:

Colors that I really like are browns, burgandys and plums. I usually tend to go with darker colors. I am really into turtles, baby pooh, classic pooh, and now I'm starting to like alligators. I think I like baby pooh because he has a big noggin, like my babies... lol... =b As far as designs go, I'm very open to anything. What may be nice too, is maybe a doll quilt that is aimed towards a boy so that maybe I can let my youngest use it for his stuffed animals (he may borrow it, because it will be mine)... =b It doesn't have to be aimed for a boy though. It can be aimed totally towards me!! But I give you open range... I don't want my likes to limit you. I wouldn't mind even receiving something that makes me think, "hmmm, I wouldn't have thought of that." I know everyone has their own tastes and I wouldn't mind receiving a doll qult that is totally unexpected... Out of the Box (my box, that is)... =b

I hope this post gives a sense of where I am coming from and I didn't lead to more confusion... This is my first swap ever... So I'll be totally happy if everything works out and I get that little surprise in the mail and my partner gets theirs without any bumps... =b

I Saw Shades of Red... =b

I wanted to show a WIP that I have had since last year. It's been ready for quilting for awhile, just waiting for me to get started. This was supposed to be the first quilt that I was going to sew a binding on and I think that is why I have not completed it. But now that I've done it once I think I'm ready to complete it. I hope that it counts as a Shade Of Red... =b I'm drawn to burgandys and browns. I also need to go and look for an outside border for two of the other quilts I'm working on. If I'm lucky I'll be done sooner than I think.
Oh... and I also joined the Doll Quilt Swap 4! My first swap ever!! So I'm excited and a little scared at the same time. wish me luck! =b

Busy Busy Busy

I am gonna be really busy this month! I need to complete 2 baby quilts. One for the end of June and one for mid July. The pic above was going to be for my friend who is having a boy. She wanted some greens. But now I think it looks a little too girly for a baby boy. My mom agrees, so back to the drawing board. I have to be quick though, hers is the first one I need to complete. It just gives me an excuse to go fabric shopping... =b Maybe I'll use the above material for our "2nd" Annual Gift Exchange... Some of my cousins and aunts who are a little craftier than me started a gift exchange of home made gifts. It was lots of fun and I can't wait to see what we all come up with again...

These fabrics are going to be for my cousin Vivian and her baby boy. Her Baby Shower is in July, but I have to try and complete it or get most of it done before the end of June because that's when we'll be going on our family trip to Oklahoma. Now I know I can do it, since I completed the other one. Wish me luck...

Baby Blanket Finally Complete!!

YAY!!! I finally finished a project this year!! I think I took so long because I was afraid to do the binding... I gave this quilt to my cousin Andre and his girlfriend and mommy to be, Vanessa, for their daughter who should be making her special appearance in July. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. And the binding wasn't too bad either. I think I like it more than just sewing the pieces inside out. I think it looks nicer... ??? So I will be trying to complete one for my friend Wendy and another for my cousin Vivian, who will both be having boys in August. I am going to get my list together and start marking off people as I give them quilts. I need to practice on crocheting more too... hopefully one day I'll become less of a novice and more of an expert... and I mean for everything I try my hand at!!

Oh and we will be making our trip out to Oklahoma in about a month to visit my grandparents and my other relatives. The boys love it out there... especially going to the lake almost everyday. So I need to start sewing before I get wrapped up in our trip. Time sure is Flying By!!!!

Caught Red Handed... =b

Last night this boy just would not go to sleep! I would put him in bed and he would just crawl over me and run back to his brothers' room. He tore up their room and finally tired himself out enough to come to bed. When I first woke up I thought he had a bloody nose during the night because of the dark splotches on his shirt. Then I took a closer look. He had gotten into his brothers markers and marked his shirt, his hands and his face. Look at him... He looks so proud of this accomplishment. He's even got a big grin and is cheesin' it up for the camera. I love my little brat so much, and yeah the other brats too! We'll find out if those were washable markers! lol...
Man, I really need to start sewing again... maybe I'll start tomorrow... for a little while anyway... before I go work at Casa... Oh, and I wanna plan a trip to one of the casinos in San Diego... you know, the ones where you can take the bus up there for FREE... maybe one of these days...

I's Married Now...

Hello... I know it's been awhile... but I will try my best to do better... =b so this past weekend me and my cohabiting partner finally tied the knot. lol... We got married in Vegas and some of our friends and family were able to share this special moment with us. The boys had a great time, especially when they were in the pool. Derek had a chance to get wet too after the wedding. They loved it!! I think I'm going to pay for them to take swimming classes. Miles wanted to stick it out in the pool while I took Christopher to the restroom. I couldn't let him because he doesn't know how to swim. Miles said that he can take care of himself and "if I drown, revenge me" lol... them boys are keepers... =b They had a blast watching their mom and dad get married. It was a tiring weekend but we got through it and we came home as husband and wife... =b

I also want to tell you about some of the things that have happened while I've been away... We went to our Friends' Baby's Baptism, We went to TJ with Mars' parents and Carmen and Jose, and I've had an uncle pass away(My dad's brother-in-law)... My condolences go out to my Aunt Chippie, Cousin Katie, Cousin Kathy and her family. It's a big loss for the family and his memory will live on through them and all of us. I also want to mention that it seems with death, also comes life... there have been two deaths in my family this year and I believe their will be about 7 births in my family this year!!!!! 2 on my mom's side and 5 on my dad's side... which seems odd because I've got cousins galore on my momma's side and not so many on my dad's side... so you would've believed the opposite to be true... So although there will be 5 births on my dad's side, they are no way near catching up to my momma's side of the family... just thought I'd throw that out there... =b

2008 Glendale Quilt Show

Luja, originally uploaded by roxie_jc.

So me and my momma did end up going to the quilt show about, what, 2 weekends ago? We had a great time... We saw lots of quilts and visited the many vendors who delighted in our overspending... =b I only took a picture of a couple quilts that caught my eye. The picture of the turtle above is from a Noah's Ark quilt. I love turtles, so I had to get a close up. I'm also a little more interested in alligators because I am part Creek and my family is from the alligator clan.

Sorry I didn't post sooner but I have a Casio Camera and I couldn't find the cable to download the pics onto my computer. Mars, my soon to be hubby, found a substitute for me. So, Yes!! I get to post pics again... =b

I also went with my momma to a shop hop this past Friday... and boy, did it wear me out!!! I did have fun though, and I saw lots of stuff I wanna spend my moola on... after we got home I was able to rest for about half an hour before my softball game... We lost... =( but we did pretty good... so hopefully next time I'll have some better news for you...

Here is my family. I graduated from CSULB in the summer of 2007. This is the most recent picture of us as a group and I thought it looked pretty good too... =b
My boys are Derek (1 year old), Miles (6 years old), and Christopher (7 years old, at that time). My baby daddy's name is Manuel, AKA Mars... We are getting married, FINALLY, next month in April. I know, I know... took long enough. But we wanted to wait til I finished school and that has now happened. So we are preparing for the big day next month... Okay, you got me there too... little preparation has gone into it. We reserved the chapel. Does that count for anything???? I am reserving the rooms this weekend. Now we have to figure out what we are going to wear.
Other Things Going On: I am working on several projects right now... I am learning new things and having fun too. I am working on sewing borders on a quilt I am working on. I am maybe a quarter of the way done working on crocheting a baby blanket. I am in the process of cutting out the pieces to a craft bag I will be making from a simplicity pattern. I also need to start quilting another quilt that I have safety pinned together. There's alot going on, but I'll get through it... =b I want to learn how to sew a binding onto a quilt. So far all I've done is sew the couple of quilts I've made almost completely shut and then turned it right side out. I want to learn the binding method because I think it looks nicer. My mom is taking a quilting class and I am learning from her. She bought me my first sewing machine this past Christmas, and that's why I have all of these projects now... The crocheting is for when I'm away from home and still make use of my free time.
My mother and I will be going to the Quilt Show in Glendale this weekend, so maybe I'll come back with a couple of pictures and a couple of goodies... =b
